Salvador Dalí
Spanish, 1904–1989
Salvador Dalí, born in 1904, was a Spanish surrealist artist celebrated for dreamlike imagery, technical brilliance and an eccentric persona. His masterpiece The Persistence of Memory (1931), with its melting clocks, remains an iconic symbol of surrealism, and his "paranoiac-critical method" unlocked new approaches to the subconscious.
His influence extends across modern art, fashion, film and popular culture; his legacy is preserved by the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, and his signed prints and bronzes are perennial highlights on The Fine Art Auction.
